Donations

Your generous donations to The Kennedy Collective Thrift Online Store help sustain our social enterprise. All proceeds from items purchased through our store help provide programs, services, and employment opportunities to people with disabilities.

We accept donations of new, vintage, and gently used items at our Shelton and Trumbull retail locations. We kindly request that items are clean and presorted to remove items that do not comply with out standards noted below.

Due to safety, legal/environmental concerns, store standards and/or present space capacity, the following items will not be accepted:

  • Hard goods in need of repair – any item that is broken, missing a part, chipped or in otherwise in need of repair. *** Exception: Palm & Able DOES ACCEPT Clothing, Apparel and Shoes that are damaged, torn, ripped or stained, if they are clean.***
  • Knives - Exception: cutlery knives, or knives in original/protective packaging. 
  • Items that are Wet, Mildewed, Rusty or Inflammable
  • Recalled Items
  • Mattresses, Box Spring and Pillows
  • Sofa Beds
  • Paint and Household Chemicals
  • Auto Parts and Supplies
  • Building, Electrical and Plumbing Materials
  • Large or bulky Items – such as air conditioners, appliances, swing sets, carpeting, bean bag chairs, TV’s
  • Medical Supplies
  • Food and Beverage Items
  • Pet-Damaged Items
  • Baby Furniture, Toys and Games – recalled, broken, missing parts, soiled and water-damaged. Items that have not been confirmed as complying with CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Standards) by the owner. CAR SEATS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
  • Stuffed Animals – unless in original condition
  • Large, Bulky Furniture or Furniture that is damaged, broken, dirty or heavily used
  • Knock-down Furniture – unless in original sealed box
